Milan is the high fashion in Via Montenapoleone and the vintage stores in hidden alleys. It’s the modern skyscrapers in Gae Aulenti square and the old railing houses along the Navigli. It’s the opera at Teatro alla Scala and the concerts by independent artists in the clubs. It’s the Gothic style of the Duomo, the neoclassical of the Arco della Pace, the Art Nouveau of Porta Venezia, the Baroque of Palazzo Litta. It’s the typical trattoria where you can taste a delicious risotto alla milanese and the chic rooftops overlooking Porta Nuova.

As the writer Guido Piovene said once, "To understand Milan you have to dive into it. Dive into it, not look at it as an artwork." And what better way to dive into it than with an Italian course?
The Dolce Vita course, designed for mature students, combines a language course with eno-gastronomic events, cultural visits and excursions that give the excitement of the Italian dolce vita. All visits and activities will be led by an expert guide who will tell you all the secrets of Milan. You won't have to think about anything but having fun and relaxing with other international students!

Example of activities proposed for the Dolce Vita course in Milan:

Week 1: activity program 

  • Milan City Tour: guided city tour to discover the most beautiful corners of Milan.
  • Visit to Teatro alla Scala: guided visit to the museum and the Teatro alla Scala, to discover the fascinating world of Italian Opera.
  • Visit to Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper and Santa Maria delle Grazie church.
  • Typical dinner in a Milanese restaurant.

Week 2: Activity program
The one-week program is followed by the second week's program:

  • Saturday: excursion in a city not far from Milan, such as Como or Verona
  • Classical music concert or Opera.
  • Walk in the Navigli district with its small art studios and antique stores.
  • Visit to the Museum of the 1900s.
  • Typical Milanese aperitivo.

Short Description and Note
  • 4 lessons of Intensive group language course per day; 20 lessons per week;
  • Visits and excursions in the afternoons;
  • Participants: min. 3 - max. 14 participants per group. If only 1 or 2 participants are enrolled, the school will shorten the number of activities in the afternoon:1 participant = 2 activities, 2 participants = 3 activities.
  • Scuola Leonardo da Vinci reserves the right to change some or all activities part of the Dolce Vita course due to COVID-19 restrictions or limitations imposed at any time.
  • A €70 enrollment fee valid for 12 months must be paid for any enrollment.

I attended the school only for a week and, despite my advanced age, I felt like home and welcomed in my class. I almost grasped the subjunctive but I think for foreigners this will always be a real challenge. In the afternoon, during La Dolce Vita course, I enjoyed many interesting excursions in the areas around Milan. Specifically, I enjoyed the visit to the House of Rest of Verdi and the famous La Scala theater. All the teachers and people behind the scenes were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this course in order to learn Italian language and see the real Milan.
